State’s physician workforce board receives new name

Effective July 1, the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce officially became the new name for the state’s former physician workforce board.

The new name aligns with the expanded scope of the Board's loan repayment and data collection programs, which now include dentists, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses.

The board member structure also was amended to add a dentist, a physician assistant, and a nurse practitioner, when vacancies become available.

All changes were in Senate Bill 207, which Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law in April. Click HERE to read a copy of the bill.
