Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Carolyn Clevenger
The Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce (GBHCW) is pleased to recognize another of our esteemed Board members, Dr. Carolyn Clevenger.
Dr. Clevenger is a gerontological nurse practitioner and professor at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. She is a distinguished Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Gerontological Society of America, and the American Academy of Nursing. Her research focuses on the geriatric nurse practitioner workforce, psychoeducation programs for dementia family caregivers, and new models of care.
As the founder and director of Emory’s Integrated Memory Care Program, Dr. Clevenger leads a nationally recognized nurse-led primary care practice for individuals living with dementia. This innovative program has been honored as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, an Age-Friendly Health System, a Best Practice exemplar, and is a participant in the GUIDE model.
Dr. Clevenger’s visionary leadership is helping shape the future of healthcare in Georgia, ensuring the workforce is prepared to meet the growing demands of an aging population.
Outside of her professional achievements, Carolyn is passionate about fitness and an OrangeTheory enthusiast. She also plays tennis and leads a group at Cannon United Methodist Church. She has lived in Gwinnett County for 21 years with her husband, a fellow nurse practitioner, and they have two children.
