Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Indran Indrakrishnan
The GBHCW Board, appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate, consists of 15 members, including physicians, health executives, practitioners, and consumer representatives. To highlight their dedication, we will feature Board member Dr. Indran Indrakrishnan.
Dr. Indran B. Indrakrishnan, a Gastroenterologist, operates a private practice and a CMS licensed Ambulatory Endoscopy Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He is also an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Medicine and serves on the board of directors of Rainbow Village Inc., a non-profit dedicated to caring for homeless mothers and children.
Dr Indrakrishnan was born in Sri Lanka & his native language is Tamil. He obtained his medical degree from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and received further specialized training in England, Canada & USA.
Recognized by the Georgia State Assembly and the Georgia Asian Times for his contributions, Dr. Indrakrishnan is passionate about colorectal cancer prevention. He has led efforts for state proclamations of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and was invited by NASDAQ to ring the opening bell in New York to honor colorectal cancer survivors.
A former president of the Georgia Gastroenterological & Endoscopy Society and Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI), he holds fellowships from multiple prestigious colleges and has served on numerous examination and advisory boards. He is active in medical journal editorial boards and frequently speaks at national and international events.
He actively participates in the editorial boards of national and international medical journals and has published research papers in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Indrakrishnan’s expertise has led to invitations as a visiting professor and speaker, both nationally and internationally. He has also contributed to radio talk shows, discussing various healthcare topics.
He lives in the suburbs of Atlanta with his wife Gayathri, an MBA and CPA graduate. Their daughter Harini, a proud graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, is currently in the anesthesiology residency program at the University of Chicago. Dr. Indrakrishnan loves watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
