FY25 GME Grant Full Application Details – South of SR 540

Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce Graduate Medical Education (GME) FY25 Expansion Grants

The Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce (GBHCW) is offering funding to support hospitals in expanding Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs south of Georgia State Route 540 (SR 540).

Eligibility

Grant Purpose

This funding helps hospitals establish new or expand existing GME slots in eligible areas.

Funding Details

  • Maximum Funding Per Hospital: $10 million
  • Eligible Expenses:
    • Accreditation fees, conferences, and consultant costs
    • Architectural designs (excluding final construction drawings)
    • Leasing clinical or administrative space for GME programs
    • Facility upgrades for GME spaces (wiring, security, signage, etc.)
    • Training equipment for residents
    • Personnel for GME Programs (for GME-related work only):
      • Designated Institutional Official for accreditation duties
      • Program Directors or Acting Directors (Board-certified physicians)
      • GME Program Coordinators
      • Core Faculty (as listed in ACGME applications)
  • Funding Restrictions:
    • Operating expenses for residency slots are not allowed
    • No purchasing land, buildings, or businesses
    • Equipment exceeding $100,000 per item (including taxes, warranties, and shipping)

Application Process

  • Step 1: Submit Intent to Apply Form
    • Applicants must complete and submit an Intent to Apply Form before submitting a full application.
    • Deadline: April 11, 2025
  • Step 2: Complete the Full Application
    • Submit your full application through the online application portal 
    • Deadline: Applications must be submitted online by May 5, 2025.
    • Emailed applications will not be accepted.

Fund Distribution

Funding will be disbursed based on performance metrics as hospitals progress in developing their GME programs. Specific details will be provided upon award notification.

Reporting Requirements

Grant recipients must submit regular updates on:

  • Program development progress
  • Grant fund expenditures
  • Key milestones achieved
