GBHCW launches online visualization tool to highlight physician assistant workforce data
The Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce today announced the release of an interactive data visualization tool to display physician assistant workforce metrics for all Georgia counties. In 2017, the GBHCW released the physician workforce information through the data visualization software on its website, and the physician assistant release is a continuation of the GBHCW’s commitment to provide more workforce data through its website.
“We are excited to add this new tool to the data visualization software on our website,” GBHCW Chairman Antonio Rios, M.D., said. “With tools like this available for key stakeholders and policymakers to utilize, they will have the resources they need to more accurately assess the health care workforce needs of Georgia communities.”
Every year, the GBHCW examines the supply and distribution of Georgia’s actively practicing physicians and physician assistants using data from license renewals through the Georgia Composite Medical Board. The license renewal information is important in forecasting supply and distribution trends in workforce patterns (i.e. demographics, specialty, and geographical location), which were traditionally published every year in the GBHCW’s annual workforce reports.
The project was made possible through a collaboration with the Georgia Technology Authority and the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
