GBHCW boosts data visualization with nursing workforce information

Today, the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce launched a new feature for its website’s data visualization tool to highlight the supply and distribution of Georgia’s actively licensed nurse workforce, which includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and advanced practice registered nurses.

“This new feature will complement the Board’s existing data visualization for physicians and physician assistants,” said GBHCW Executive Director LaSharn Hughes. “With the nursing data now available, our visualization tools display a more complete snapshot of the state’s health care workforce. We are excited to partner with both the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition to roll out this new addition.”

The data are based on the Georgia Board of Nursing’s roster of nurses actively licensed in 2019 and 2020. While the physician and physician assistant dashboards use the practice location provided in renewal surveys, the nursing dashboard is based on the residential location as provided by licensees during licensure and renewal.

The Board launched its physician data visualization tool in October 2017 and then added a visualization tool for physician assistant data in December 2019. The Board also added a “trends” feature in Spring 2020 so users can examine data from previous years.

To view the data visualization tools, please visit the GBHCW’s website by clicking HERE and then select the tab for “Nurses.”
